Doubles or singles? Picking your first division
How to choose between racing solo, with a partner or in a relay — and how to split the work.

Hyrox has a division for almost everyone. Choosing the right one for your first race makes the difference between a great day and a long one.
Singles: the full test
You run all eight kilometres and complete every station on your own. It is the purest version of the race and the hardest. Pick singles if you have a solid running base and want to know exactly where you stand.
Doubles: shared stations
You and a partner run every kilometre together but split the work on each station however you like. Doubles is the best first race for most people. You get the full race-day experience with half the station volume.
How to split the work
Play to your strengths. The stronger athlete takes more of the sled push and pull. The better engine takes more of the SkiErg and rowing. Agree on the split before race day and stick to it.
Relay: a team of four
Each athlete runs two kilometres and completes two stations. Relays are fast, social and a great way to bring a training group into the sport.
Our recommendation
If it is your first race and you train less than four times a week, start with doubles. If you are a strong runner with a gym background, go straight to singles. Either way, book a race assessment and we will help you decide.
